Kitchen Renovation and Finish Upgrade
This kitchen began with dated finishes, laminate countertops, and a deteriorated subfloor. While the layout remained functional, the space no longer reflected the homeowner’s style or the quality they wanted for the heart of their home.
Rather than replacing the original hardwood cabinets with modern pressed-board alternatives, the decision was made to preserve and refinish them. The cabinets were carefully removed, professionally stripped, and refinished, allowing the natural wood to remain while updating the overall look. New black hardware was selected to modernize the design without sacrificing the integrity of the original materials.
Damaged sections of the subfloor were replaced to restore structural stability before installing new luxury vinyl plank flooring chosen to complement the adjoining hardwood floors. Countertops were upgraded to stone and paired with a tile backsplash to create a durable, cohesive workspace. Lighting was modernized throughout, and a discreet pop-up outlet was integrated into the island to improve functionality.
The original arched window above the sink was replaced with a larger rectangular, energy-efficient unit to simplify the visual lines and increase natural light. A farmhouse undermount sink and updated faucet completed the transformation.
The result is a thoughtfully updated kitchen that preserves quality craftsmanship, improves durability, and delivers a cleaner, more modern aesthetic without unnecessary replacement.
This addition demonstrates how careful planning and coordinated systems work can turn unfinished square footage into a seamless, functional extension of the home.
